Tax Assistance Volunteers Needed Now!

United Way of Erie County is recruiting people to be trained as Ohio Benefit Bank (OBB) Tax Counselors  to help low-income individuals prepare their taxes for free.
What skills do volunteers need? A desire to help people and the ability to work with people.
Do volunteers need to be a tax expert? NO! The Ohio Benefit Bank program is web-based and easy to navigate—You do not need to be an expert in tax preparation or IRS codes because the expertise is built into the software. Training is online, at your leisure.
How often do I have to volunteer? Volunteers needed from February—May 15th at various times.

ANNUAL VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Stamp Out Hunger
In May, on the 2nd Saturday, United Way partners with the Sandusky Post Office Letter Carriers to collect nonperishable food items for delivery to food pantries in Sandusky. Volunteers are needed to collect food in advance of the date, collect on the day of the event and sort & distribute to local pantries.

Farmers" Markets
A partnership between  Second Harvest Food Bank, United Way of Erie County, Zion Lutheran Church and various food banks.
Free, fresh produce is provided to 300 income-eligible households monthly between July and October.
.We are committed to helping individuals and families have access to fresh and healthy food.

 

 

Popcorn Wagon - Memorial Day through Labor Day

Volunteer are needed to make and sell Popcorn at the Popcorn Wagon. Monday through Saturday from 11am-2pm, and during special evening events.
If you like people, this is an opportunity for you!!
 

 Discover Sailing -May/June
Volunteers are needed to register participants for an hour on the lake to learn more about sailing or to just relax!

 

Stuff the Bus
Volunteers are needed to collect school supplies to be given to children whose parents are struggling.

 

Sandusky City Schools Back to Rally
15 Volunteers are needed to read to youth at the Rally as well as volunteer for others activities.  

 REV3 Triathalon (Day of Caring) - September
As a Day of Caring, United Way of Erie County mans the Battery Park Aid Station for Rev 3 triathalon participants. Volunteers pass out
beverages and snacks to the runners and cheer them on! Volunteers are needed during the day. This is an exciting and because of our 
volunteers for United Way of Erie County can earn money.
