Donor Privacy Policy

United Way of Erie County is committed to protecting your privacy.  We value the trust our donors place in the organization and adhere to the highest standards in gathering, using and safeguarding donor information.  This includes all of the donor's personal and gift information.

When an individual chooses to give to United Way of Erie County, a pledge form is completed that asks the donor to provide the donor's name, address, e-mail address, and pledge information.  United Way of Erie County will not sell, rent, or share any information about its donors.

Employees and volunteers of United Way may have access to donor information in order to process pledges and to complete administrative functions. Staff and volunteers who perform these duties are prohibited from disclosing donor information to third parties. Names printed in United Way recognition materials are a matter of public record. If an individual does not want their name to appear in printed materials, the donor can indicate the gift as anonymous.

United Way of Erie County finds it essential to collect this information.  The donor's relationship with United Way is voluntary and confidential.  We use donor data to send acknowledgements of gifts as well as information that the donor may find of interest about United Way.

We only use donor information to confirm gifts, to send information on how gifts are being invested in the community, and to accurately track donor data.  We will ask you for information that personally identifies you or allows us to contact you only when you have requested that we provide a service or carry out a transaction on your behalf.  Services may include acknowledgement of gifts.
