Stamp Out Hunger 2013

Saturday, May 11, 2013 marks the 21st year of the Stamp Out Hunger national food drive, and United Way of Erie County is partnering with Sandusky and Huron postal carriers in order to assist needy families in the community. On this day, we ask that you please leav

e a donation of non-perishable food items in a bag by your mailbox for your letter carrier to collect that he/she will deliver to your local food bank.

While the drive has been a success each year, the needs are particularly sad for 2013. One out of every six people are at risk for hunger in Erie County. 77 percent of households are food insecure, meaning they do not always know where they will find their next meal, and 44 percent of households have said they had to choose between paying for rent or a mortgage and food.
