Over the course of the past few months, United Way of Erie County offered tax assistance to residents of Erie County through tax clinics done at Goodwill Industries, Your Job Store, BGSU Firelands and Ohio Business College as well as individual tax appointments done at the United Way office with the goal being to help residents in filing their taxes to help in saving money, especially in the present-day economy.

A reminder that tomorrow (Tuesday, April 10th) the United Way of Erie County, Sandusky City Schools and the Erie County Family Children First Council will host the first Community Resource Fair. The event will be held from 3pm - 6pm in the Sandusky High School Cafeteria. This event is an opportunity for community members to learn about agencies or persons who provide a service and/or community resource to Erie County residents.

Attention anyone who has not purchased a duck yet and will be attending the Rotary Pizza Challenge tomorrow (March 27) from 4-7 PM at Kalahari Resort: There will be a booth set up at the Pizza Challenge where you can buy one or even a whole team of ducks! Remember that with your $20 duck purchase you also get a FREE Jet Express companion ticket. If you are attending the Pizza Challenge and have yet to buy your duck, then don't miss out on this incredible opportunity!

On February 15, 2012, the United Way of Erie County hosted its Final Report Meeting and Volunteer Recognition at the Quality Inn & Suites in Sandusky. At the event, United Way would share the progress on the annual campaign as well as recognize those who helped to contribute to the success of this past year’s campaign.

Last week, United Way of Erie County held a special event to kick off their 2011-2012 campaign and salute the Stars of United Way.

"Be a Star for United Way" is the campaign theme for this year, because it truly expresses what goes on behind the scenes of the organization. So many businesses and individuals come together to enable the United Way of Erie County to do its work in the community. It takes every group working together, not just the efforts of one group or individual, to advance the common good.

Due to the car show in Milan Village Square being canceled, United Way of Erie County has decided to cancel our photo op as well. We apologize for any inconvenience.
