The Board of Directors of United Way of Erie County consists of many diverse people. The Board Members volunteer their time, energy and resources to oversee the organization.

David Springer
Board President 
Industrial Nut Corp.
Term 2014-2016
David is currently the Purchasing Manager at Industrial Nut Corp., previously working for Honda of American Manufacturing in Marysville, OH. Today, he is responsible for managing the supply base for his family’s business.He received his Undergraduate Business degree from Western Michigan University specializing in supply chain management in 2005. David and his wife Jessica enjoy the outdoors and time with family and friends. David splits his time to the community by participating on two Board of Directors. United Way of Erie County as well as the Erie County Conservation League, where he holds the position of Vice President. David and his wife both share a strong belief in education and hope through their efforts they can improve the schools in our area.
 
Maris Brenner
Board Vice President
Kalahari Resort, Director of Industry and Community Relations
Term 2014-2016
Arriving in Sandusky in 2006, Maris Brenner directed the Sales and Conference Services Department at Kalahari Resort opening the 90,000 sq. ft. Conference Center and serving on the resort's Executive Committee. With the expansion to 225,000 sq. ft in 2012, Maris began a new role as Director of Community and Industry Relations. Her first involvement with United Way was working on the Duck Derby fund raiser as early as 2006 and then each Spring which led to joining the UWEC PR Committee and the Community Investment Committee.  In January of 2012, Maris became a UWEC Board Member.  She also serves as President of Lake Erie Shores and Islands Visitor and Convention Bureau, President-Elect of Sandusky Rotary, and is an active Board Member with the Erie County Chamber of Commerce, Huron Chamber of Commerce, and the Ohio Travel Association.
 

Peter Kowalski, Jr., 
Chair Allocations Committee
Mack Iron Works, Co., Vice President 
Term 2014-2016
Peter and his wife of 25 years, Marsha live in Perkins Township and have two sons, Shepard and Garrett. Mr. Kowalski is Vice President of the Mack Iron Works Company and has been with Mack Iron since October of 1983. He graduated from The Ohio State University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and is a Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Ohio. Peter has been a member of the United Way of Erie County Board of Directors since 2001. He is the Chairperson of the Governance Committee of Sandusky Central Catholic School (SCCS), has served on the SCCS Board of Directors for seven years, including five years as the Board’s President and is involved in ministry committees of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Sandusky. He is a member of the Kiwanis Club of Sandusky, the Leadership Erie County Curriculum Committee, The Ohio State University Alumni Club of Erie County, and the LEADS Alumni Association. He is past Chairman of the Erie County Human Resources Association, past President of the Sandusky Chapter of the International Management Council, served on the Board of Trustees of the Sandusky YMCA and also Perkins School district’s FACTS Advisory Committee. He holds professional memberships in the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), American Welding Society (AWS), the American Society of Nondestructive Testing (ASNT) and the Sandusky Area Safety Council (SASC).

 

Allison Burroughs

Stein Hospice, Human Resourses Manager

A
llison is the Director of Human Resources for Stein Hospice where she is responsible for all employee based activity within the organization from both an operational and strategic perspective.  In her position, she also serves as the Director of Scheduling for all Stein clients.  Allison is a graduate of Margaretta High School; Tiffin University with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration and is PHR certified by SHRMA.  She is a member of the Tiffin University Alumni Association, Sandusky Yacht Club and Erie County Conservation League.  Allison and her husband reside in Castalia, with her son and their faithful Schnauzer.

Mark Bravo
UPS, Operations Supervisor
Term 2015-2017
Mark Bravo is currently employed by UPS in Milan as the Operations Supervisor. Mark has been employed by UPS for over 15 years. He has experience in logistics, planning, cost containment, adn oeprations. Mark graduated from St. Ignatius High School in Cleveland, Ohio and continued his education at John Carroll University where he studied French and Economics.  Mark has served on United Way Allocations Committee for over four years as al at-large-committee member.

 
David Clark

David Clark currently serves as a board member of the United Way of Erie County Board of Directors and has served on the Board since March, 2010. Dave also serves on the PR Committee and assists with City of Huron Division of the Campaign.
 
Wilson Forney
Family Health Services, Chief Executive Officer
Term 2015-2017
Wilson Forney is currently the Chief Executive Officer of Family Health Services of Erie County. Prior to that, Wilson was the Chief Operating Officer for the Community Health Services in Fremont, Ohio. Wilson is active in Erie County Community Council, the Family and Children First Council and a a graduate of Leadership of Erie County. 
 
 
Donna Green
OSU Extension, Extension Educator
Term 2014-2016

Donna Green is a Family & Consumer Sciences Educator at OSU Extension. She has worked for Ohio State University for over 20 years.  She currently serves as a Board of Education member for both the Huron City School District and EHOVE.  Donna has a BS in Education from Bowling Green State University and an MA Degree from the University of Nebraska (Lincoln). Her educational outreach in Erie County focuses on two specializations; health/wellness and financial literacy.
 

Twila M. Johnson
Retired
Term 2014-2016
Twila Johnson currently serves as a board member of the United Way of Erie County Board of Directors and has served on the Board since January, 1995.

Kevin D. Kieffer
Payne, Nickles & Company, CPA's, Inc., Accountant
Term 2013-2015
Kevin D. Kieffer has been with Payne, Nickles & Company, CPA's, Inc. since 1997. He focuses on taxation and advisory services for small and medium sized closely-owned business enterprises, individuals, estates and trusts. He received his education at Eastern Michigan University and in 1993 graduated with a Bachelors of Business Administration-Accounting with high honors. Kevin serves on the Finance Committee.

 
Tom Kinsel
Retired Educator
Term 2015-2017
Tom Kinsel was born and raised in Pennsylvania and located to Ohio in 1979. Tom retired from Perkins Schools after serving as a teacher from 1979-1997 and 2004-2014. He served as the Dirctor of Technology from 1997-2005.  During his time at Perkins, Tom was also employed as the Athletic Trainer, the Middle School Athletic Director, the Computer Department Chair, the Social Studies and Model United Nations Adviser, Mentor Teacher and served on many educational leadership committees. 
Tom has been an active member of Zion Lutheran Church for over 30 years and has served and assisted in many areas during the years.
Tom is married to Nancy, also a retired teacher from Perkins Schools, and they have three children.
 
 
Brett Kinzel
UBS, Financial Advisor
Term 2012-2014
Brett Kinzel is a Vice President and Financial Advisor at UBS Financial Services in Sandusky, Ohio. He is married to Beth and has three children, Hannah, Maddie and Nick. He lives in Perkins Township. Brett also is involved with the Sandusky Area YMCA, and volunteers at Sandusky City Schools. Brett serves on the Finance and Allocations Committees.

 
John Lane 
Citizens Bank, Special Assets
Finance Committee 
Term 2014-2016
John Lane grew up in Northeast Ohio and graduated from Hudson High School in Hudson, OH. During high school, John earned a Congressional appointment to attend the United States Military Academy at West Point, NY. He graduated from West Point as a Distinguished Honor Graduate in 1994 and received a commission as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army. Over the next eight and a half years, John served as an Army Aviation Pilot and Leader in various postings around the world to include: Fort Rucker, AL, Fort Campbell, KY, Soto Cano Airbase, Honduras and Headquarters, United States Army Europe in Heidelberg, Germany.

After completing his service in the military, John graduated from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University with an MBA. In 2006, John returned to his home state of Ohio and joined The Huntington National Bank in Cleveland to work as a Commercial Real Estate Lender and then Special Asset Officer. In 2011, John joined the Citizens Banking Company in Sandusky, OH to work as the bank’s Senior Vice President and Manager of the Special Asset Group.

Currently, John lives in Cuyahoga Falls, OH with his wife Sabrina.

Ben K. Lindsley

Ben Lindsley currently serves as a board member of the United Way of Erie County Board of Directors and has served on the Board since January, 1979. Ben also serves on the Small Business Blitz Committee and is co-chair of the City of Huron Division of the annual Campaign.

 
Robert Paisley
Woodforest National Bank, Branch Manager
Term 2015-2017
Robert Paisley is a graduate of New London High School. He earned a Business Administration Degree from Penn Foster College.  His original goal in life was to own and operate an automotive fabrication shop so he started a business in 2004. In 2008, he decided to close his shop and began his career with Woodforest National Bank.  In 2013, he was transferred to the Sandusky Branch located in the Sandusky Walmart Store.

 
Elisa Prout
MetalTek, Executive Administrator
Term 2013-2015
Elisa Prout and her husband, Skip, live in Sandusky. Elisa is the Executive Administrative Manager at the Sandusky International Division of MetalTek International and has been with Sandusky International since 1978. She is a LEADS graduate and has been involved with several different projects for various United Way agencies. Cooking is one of her greatest passions and is happy to be able to bring families together at meal time through her "Thyme For You" Personal Chef Service and as an Independent Consultant for The Pampered Chef. Elisa serves on the Finance Committee.
 
 
Connie Roberts
Schoffner Publication, Markeing Manager
Term 2013-2015
Connie Roberts is the Marketing Manager for the Beacon. Previously, Connie was employed as the Marketing Director for Bassets Market for five years and the General Manager for Mon Ami for 5 years. Connie has been a member of the Huron community for 20+ years. Connie serves on the PR and Campaign Committee.
  
 
Carole Romp, RN

Carole Romp currently serves as a board member of the United Way of Erie County Board of Directors and has served on the Board since April, 2007.  Carole serves on the Business and Operations Committee.
 
 
Karen Russell
Firelands Counseling and Recovery Center
Term 2014-2016
Karen Russell is a supervisor for Firelands Counseling and Recovery Center. She serves on the Allocations Committee.
 
Brad Wieber
Great Wolf Lodge, Front Office Operations Manager
Term 2015-2017
Brad Wieber was born and raised in Sandusky and graduated from Perkins High School. He attended Ashland University and earned a BSBA with a major in hotel/restaurant management.  He move to Missouri in 2007 to work for Hilton Hotels. He returned to the area in 2011 to work at Kalahari Resorts and in 2013, he began his career with Great  Wolf Lodge.  Brad attends Grace Episcopal Church and is a very active member.
 
Jason Werling
Sandusky Register, Assistant Managing Editor for Digital
Term 2015-2017
Jason Werling grew up in  Toledo, Ohio and attended Ohio University. He started his career at the Sandusky Register as staff photographer in 1999.  He was recently promoted to Assistant Managing  Editor For Digital.  Jason volunteers his time in the community by serving on the Recreation Board for the City of Sandusky and is a member of hte Friends of Erie Metroparks.Jason resides in Sandusky with his two sons.
 
Jan Smith Wood
Grace Episcopal Church
Term 2015-2017
Jan Smith Wood is the Rector at Grace Episcopal Church. She originally served as Priest-In-Charge when she arrived in Sandusky in 2011.  Jan serves as an Ex-Officio Board Member for Kinship. She is also a trainer for Safeguarding God's Children. Jan graduated with a BA from the University of California and obtained a Masters of Divinty from the Church Divinity School of the Pacific.
 
Kyle Wright
Attorney, Dolyk & Zeiher, Co, LPA
Term 2014-2016
Mr. Wright is an attorney at Dolyk & Zeiher Co., L.P.A.  He is a lifelong resident of Huron, Ohio where he currently resides with his wife and daughter.
In addition to serving on the United Way of Erie County Board, he serves on the Erie County Public Defender board, he is a member of Erie County Economic Development Corporation, Treasurer for Luvada Wilson, Erie County, Ohio Clerk of Courts, and is a member of Huron Rotary Club.

EMERITUS BOARD MEMBER
George Mylander
Retired, School Administrator and City Official
George Mylander served as a board member of the United Way of Erie County Board of Directors from January 1969 to December 2009.
 
United Way of Erie County seeks individuals to join our many committees to enhance the knowledge and expertise of the Board. Once selected and approved, interested persons are appointed as at-large committee members and assigned to a Committee of the Board. While there are no term limits for at-large committee members, their participation is reviewed annually.
